I have two: one of My favorite hallloween costumes was me dressed up as Carmen Miranda. I had a full fruit basket as my hat ( plastic fruit), a bright orange tube top and long mint green crepe skirt slit up one side. Lots of fruit colored bangles. It nade me happy.
The other favorite costume was dressing up as female half of the famous 1970's SF street mimes called Darnell and Shields. My costume was a Top Hat, full whiteout face, long tails tuxedo jacket, red bow tie, white gloves, black shorts & fishnet stockings a black cane and high heels. I didn't speak one word the whole evening choosing instead to mime everything. It was liberating and fun on so manyblevels.

My favorite costume of all time is the one my mom bought for me when I was only 6. I got to be a princess for the night and looking back, what a cool retro costume! After that, my mother made most of my costumes. I think my brother and I look pretty cool in this pic =D "Frankenstein and the Princess".

I have had some doozies...but the first time that I ever made my own costume was when I was in the 6th grade and I went as a paper doll. I wore black tights, a white turtleneck and a shift dress on which I had glued newspaper clippings. Rouged cheeks, exaggerated eye makeup, and ponytails trimmed with that thick black and white yarn. I probably wore black patent leather shoes. I remember getting lots of compliments and feeling quite proud of my originality.

My all time favorite costume was when I dressed as Michael Jackson in the "Billie Jean" costume (white glove era - 1983). I went to my son's school, he was in Kindergarten, and I carried a tape recorder with "Billie Jean" and moon-walked towards his classroom parade, and all the kindergarteners shouted, "There's Michael Jackson!" Gotta love Halloween + the innocence of children = the best time ever!

My favorite costume was as a monkey in combination with my brother, Patrick, and neighbor, Kathy. My mother always used boys footed pajamas (like moms these days use sweat suits!). Dyed brown with monkey mitts and face mask. We were See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and Speak No Evil. At every house we would all assume the position.....me with mitts over eyes and the others with mitts over ears or mouth. As I think back on this, I realize that it was probably my favorite because the big kids (4 years older) HAD to go house to house with me! LOL!

I usually rewore old dance recital costumes as Halloween costumes. One of my favorites was a chimney sweep costume (we danced to Mary Poppins "Step In Time"). The leotard had pink and black striped puffy sleeves, patchwork on the pants, and long pink and black striped socks. Everyone thought I was dressed as a clown, and I kept having to say, "No, I'm a chimney sweep!"

My mom usually made our costumes, and as we got older my sister and I had to make our own (and they never really turned out too good - or original) - we rarely were ever allowed to buy something from the stores like kids do today!

I remember the one year that I made my own - I decided to go as a baby, so I used part of an old sheet like a diaper with big pins, and then I put a blue t-shirt on, and grabbed one of my stuffed animals - it was not going to win any costume contest, that's for sure! I was always tall for my age...and it was not too long ago that I came across pictures of that Halloween, and that get-up made me look a little like Baby Huey!! What was I thinking?

When I was little my mom made me a Genie costume like I Dream of Jeannie. I crossed my arms and nodded my head but my brother still wasn't nice to me!

Hi Sharon!!

My favorite was a fairy princess costume that my Mom made me out of a satin aqua colored table cloth. She made a sparky gold crown and wand to math. I think it also had a gold belt. It was so pretty, and made me feel like a princess!

My husband and I went to fancy Halloween Party at a rooftop hotel bar. (The host had won $10,000 at poker and decided to blow it on a party). We went as Papa Smurf and Smurfette. He wore a striped long sleeved tee,a blue knit cap, round glasses and a white beard and chomped an unlit cigar and I wore a short dress with puffy sleeves, abig swishy skirt and a pinafore and had long braids and carried a posey of daisies. We were blue everywhere that showed for most of the night. Wonder where all the lost blue went?

My favorite costume for myself was a home-made "No Face" from the anime "Spirited Away". I have never had so many stares and comments about a costume.
"I know who that is!"
"Must be someone very tall"
"Can I take my picture with you?"
It took me a long time to make it and I have worn it for three Halloweens now, so it has been worth it.

Halloween is my favorite holiday!
My favorite memory of childhood costumes are the ones that were homemade. Not sewn (my mom didn't sew) but the ones you put together from things you had around the house (cardboard boxes, etc...)Fun fun fun!

Thanks for the chance at such a wonderful giveaway!
